ISPM-15 Wooden Crating, Explained
ISPM-15 is the international phytosanitary standard that requires wood packaging material — crates, pallets, dunnage — to be heat-treated and stamped before crossing most borders. It exists to stop wood-boring pests spreading between countries. A non-compliant crate gets flagged, fumigated, or rejected by customs at the destination, and that cost and delay lands on you, not the shipper. Every crate we build is heat-treated timber, stamped with the IPPC mark, and documented so it clears without question.
Sea Freight vs. Air Freight Packing
These aren't the same job. Sea freight tolerates heavier, more robust wooden crating since weight isn't billed as aggressively as with air cargo — so we build for strength and moisture resistance first. Air freight bills by chargeable weight, so we pack lighter, more volume-efficient cartons and only crate what genuinely needs rigid protection.
